|Core Values, Ethics, Spectrum – The 3 Pillars of Public Participation|
As an international leader in public participation (P2), IAP2 developed three pillars for effective P2 processes. Developed with broad international input, these pillars cross national, cultural and religious boundaries, and they form the foundation of P2 processes that reflect the interests and concerns of all stakeholders.
We welcome your request to apply these tools.
IAP2 Core Values
As an international leader in public participation, IAP2 has developed the IAP2 Core Values for Public Participation for use in the development and implementation of public participation processes. The Core Values define the expectations and aspirations of the public participation process.IAP2 Code of Ethics
IAP2 Code of Ethics for Public Participation Practitioners supports and reflects IAP2's Core Values for the Practice of Public Participation. The Code of Ethics speaks to the actions of practitioners.IAP2 Spectrum of Public Participation
IAP2's Spectrum of Public Participation was designed to assist with the selection of the level of participation that defines the public's role in any public participation process. The Spectrum shows that differing levels of participation are legitimate and depend on the goals, time frames, resources, and levels of concern in the decision to be made.
The IAP2 Spectrum of Participation is a resource that is used on an international level and can be found in many public participation plans.
