Cross the mighty Columbia River to Vancouver, Washington to tour vibrant projects resulting from a multitude of public participation efforts. You’ll start with a visit to Esther Short Park (the Northwest’s oldest town square) with Mayor Royce Pollard, who has spearheaded Vancouver’s renaissance. See downtown Vancouver’s revitalization. Learn about the Portland/Vancouver I-5 Transportation and Trade Partnership which brought Washington and Oregon citizens and leaders together to address traffic congestion. Watch for great blue herons and coyotes on a short trail link of the new Burnt Bridge Creek Regional Wetland Bank & Greenway Trails Project. Hear about the Vancouver Lake Watershed Partnership, a multi-jurisdictional project of agencies and stakeholders working side-by-side to save a distressed lake. Your visit will include a drive by national historic sites including Fort Vancouver and Officers Row.
