Ride Portland’s famous MAX light rail in a private car to Hillsboro, 20 miles west of Portland through scenic Washington County’s “Silicon Forest.” Representatives of Tri Met, the local mass transit agency, will describe the vast public involvement that led to Portland's rail transit system. Tour Hillsboro’s new Civic Center which was inspired by the IAP2 award-winning Hillsboro 2020 Vision project and has applied for GOLD LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification. On the return trip, take a quick elevator ride to the World Forestry Center where participants can explore a World Forest Adventure at their leisure. Tour guides will accompany groups back to the hotel and the Tuesday night Dine-around.
