Experience the Portland Streetcar that links high density housing in the south waterfront district and NW Portland with the central city including a stop in Portland's trendiest neighborhood -- the Pearl District. Visit the Ecotrust Building and learn why Portland is a national leader in sustainable development. Portland’s long history of successful public involvement includes a city-funded neighborhood program with locally-elected boards that guide neighborhood planning. Learn how citizen activism in partnership with the City and business community has helped create a vibrant central city supported by progressive land use and transportation systems. On the return trip, participants can visit world-famous Powell’s bookstore, galleries, and unique shops.
