Ms Muthialu is the Managing Director of NMA Effective Social Strategists (Pty) Ltd and has held this position for the last 13 years. She started work as a public participation practitioner in 1990 where she worked on a mass public transportation study for the Greater Johannesburg area. This study was ground breaking in utilizing innovative strategies to actively engage and involve the recently unbanned political parties, trade union groups and stalwarts of the struggle movement in South Africa. Since then, Ms Muthialu has been responsible for undertaking numerous projects covering a broad range of disciplines (with specialization in the Transportation, Environmental, Urban Design and Housing sectors). She has worked on linear projects spanning international borders and her areas of focus include the formulation of relocation plans, social monitoring, negotiation and conflict resolution (specifically with the minibus-taxi, homeless and informal business sector). Her greatest success lies in her excellent track record, of over 13 years, in developing and implementing public participation strategies during project implementation of both minor and major projects crossing regional and national borders. Ms Muthialu has a Bachelor of Arts Degree (Psychology), a Masters in Business Administration, several diplomas and certificates and is currently undertaking an MA in Social Impact Assessment at the University of Johannesburg. She is an associate member of SAMRA (the Southern African Marketing Research Association), an affiliate member of the CMI (Chartered Management Institute) and a member of the International Association for Impact Assessment (IAIA).
David works in local relations for American Transmission Co. ATC owns, operates, builds and maintains the high-voltage electric system in much of Wisconsin, Michigan's Upper Peninsula, and portions of Minnesota and Illinois. David is responsible for public outreach, engagement and participation activities, particularly in the context of routing and siting transmission infrastructure projects. He works often and closely with local elected officials and staff; landowners; business, community & civic organizations; environmental groups; and other stakeholders. David has been a member of IAP2 since 2005, and currently serves a Chapter Lead/Chapter Liaison for the IAP2 Great Lakes Chapter, a member of the board of directors for IAP2 USA, and as one of two IAP2 USA delegates to the IAP2 Federation board.
Aldi has 15 years broad and in-depth project and consultancy experiences in various fields of social sustainability, such as stakeholder assessment and engagement plan, social risk assessment and provide strategic and technical advice on corporate social responsibility (CSR). He is currently Team Leader of more than 9 core multi-talented and skilled team members at the ERM Indonesia's social consulting team.
In 2010 Aldi was initiated the development of IAP2 Indonesia affiliate. And by end of 2011, new and emerging affiliation of IAP2 Indonesia was launched in Jakarta. In 2005 Aldi has won awards from the Indonesia Development Marketplace competition held by the World Bank in collaboration with the Coordinating Ministry for Social Welfare of the Republic of Indonesia. Aldi was awarded in a special category for the involvement of company in rural development program in East Kutai, Indonesia. Aldi was also developed research-action for developing multi-stakeholder engagement model in Indonesia, funded by The Partnership Foundation and in close collaboration with Mining and O&G Companies in Indonesia.
Several articles and technical papers were written and published at several national and international media and conferences, such as at the 32nd and 33rd Annual Conference of Indonesia Petroleum Association (IPA) in Indonesia plus International Association for Public Participation.
Antonella has nearly three decades consultancy experiences as Social Researcher (applied social research, social-demographic studies, action-research, qualitative approach with involvement of citizens, opinion leaders and stakeholders) for several Social Research Institutes in Italy and Germany, for public authorities, non profit organizations and the European network Euro*Idees. From 2001 to 2009, also expert on Social Management, Sustainable and Participatory Local Development, has been managing public governance processes of the Observatory for Social Policies of the Province of Pisa and of the Vast Coastal Area in Tuscany for the knowledge and analysis of citizens’ needs to planning health and social policies. She worked with FORMEZ – Training and Studies Institute and the Region Tuscany-Department of the Right to Health and Solidarity Policies, in order to produce Indicators for Monitoring and Evaluation of Social Policies. She has participated in several European Projects in the field of social inclusion funded by the European Union such as Equal Community Initiative or SAMPLE Project funded under the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7). She has written several research reports in the fields of socio-economic analysis, social inclusion, needs of young people, elderly people, women, and immigrants in the area of Pisa. Since 2009 she has been engaged as consultant by an Association for Social Promotion, entrusted by 15 Municipalities in Valdera (Tuscany) to work in the field of social housing.
Antonella was active in the 1980s in Peace Movements and Women Movements in Italy; was co-founder and active member of the International Peace Office against Cruise Missiles in Sicily (Italy). She is currently member co-founder of the executive-board of Active Citizens in her country.
Since 2008 she has been working on public deliberative processes on variuos issues such as Climate Change, Cultural (Biological Testament), Urban and Landscape Planning, in several Electronic Town Meetings in Tuscany planned and managed by Avventura Urbana team. She is a highly experienced facilitator and in E-TM, experienced member of the central team (Theme Team), and experienced in management of focus-group. In 2011 was co-founder of the AIP2 Italy, elected by the members of the Association as member of the National Board, has been nominated Vice President and entrusted to represent the AIP2 Italy on the International Board IAP2. Antonella has a Bachelor of Arts Degree (Philosophy), has been Student Grant Post-Lauream by DAAD-German Academic Exchange Service, at the Freie Universitaet of Berlin–Department of Political Science, has a Master in advances School of Social Welfare and a Master in Social Management and Local Development.
Leanne Hartill Australasia
Leanne is a Social Worker with around 30 years of experience in both state and local government agencies in Australia. She has worked in metropolitan, rural and remote areas throughout Western Australia in child protection and community development before moving into marketing/communications and policy/legislative development roles. Leanne’s current position is at the City of Melville in Perth Western Australia as Manager of Neighbourhood Development with responsibility for portfolios including social sustainability, community engagement, grant funding, volunteering, arts and events, community development and stakeholder management for over 40 community facilities. She has been an IAP2 member since 2007.
Lance Robertson is the Public Affairs Manager for the Eugene Water & Electric Board, the state of Oregon’s largest citizen-owned utility, and is an adjunct instructor at the University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communication in Eugene, Oregon. At EWEB, he directs a 10-person staff that is responsible for all of the utility’s external and internal communications, including media relations, strategic communications, the web site and social media, graphic design, publications, community outreach and public participation, and legislative affairs.
A native Oregonian and resident of Eugene since 1984, Lance spent 25 years as a newspaper reporter and editor, back in the day when people actually read newspapers, before coming to EWEB in 2001. His reporting specialty was energy and environmental news. He has been involved with IAP2 since 2008. He currently serves on the IAP2 USA Board in addition to the Federation board.
