P2 Pillars

As an international leader in public participation, IAP2 Federation has developed three pillars for effective public participation (P2) processes. Developed with broad international input, these pillars cross national, cultural, and religious boundaries and form the foundation of P2 processes that reflect the interests and concerns of all stakeholders. These include the IAP2 Core Values, Code of Ethics, and Spectrum of Public Participation.

Core Values Awards

IAP2 developed the annual Core Values Awards to recognize the “best of the best” and celebrate those who effectively use the Core Values in innovative ways in complex circumstances to make better decisions that reflect the interests and concerns of the people and entities potentially affected by those decisions.

IAP2 International Associates and IAP2 Members from locations where the IAP2 Affiliate does not offer an awards program will be eligible to submit to the Member-at-Large Awards program and the winners are eligible to compete for the international prizes. IAP2 Affiliates offering Core Values Awards programs include IAP2 AustralasiaIAP2 Canada, and IAP2 USA.

The annual Core Values Awards Showcase of Winners provides real-life case studies from award winning public participation projects that will inspire, encourage, and inform your work.

Currently IAP2 offers two training programs: Foundations in Public Participation and Strategies for Dealing with Opposition & Outrage in P2. These programs, as well as Affiliate programs accessible worldwide such as webinars and online training, are posted to the global Training Calendar.
